Speaker: Marshall “Soulful” Jones

In 2006, Marshall “Soulful” Jones found his voice at the world famous Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe. Since then, Marshall has shared the podium with notables such as Ambassador Andrew Young, Henry Louis Gates, Marc Lamont Hill, Mia Farrow, Dr. Julius Garvey, and John Leguizamo. He has opened shows for music artists Jordin Sparks, Musiq Soulchild, Kem, and Raheem DeVaughn; Marshall conducts workshops with youth and adults, regularly performs at numerous colleges and universities. He has been on National slam teams winning the first ever Group Piece Finals (2008-Urbana) and placing 2nd in the nation (2011- Nuyorican Poets Cafe). Not leaving his musicianship untended, he has also produced/written music for himself and others including HBO Def Jam Poets Shanelle Gabriel and Oveous Maximus.
