     Lieutenant Colonel David Preston graduated from Western New England College Magna Cum Laude as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, United States Army Transportation Corps in 1990.

Following graduation from the Transportation Officer Basic Course in 1991, he was assigned to the 57th Transportation Company, 548th Supply and Services Battalion, 10th Mountain Division where he served as a Platoon Leader. He deployed to Somalia for OPERATION RESTORE HOPE from December 1992 through May 1993. Upon redeployment he was assigned to Korea and served as a Battalion Adjutant and Theater Movements Planner.

Following graduation from the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course in 1996, he was assigned to Fort Eustis, Virginia where he served in numerous positions to include Terminal Operations Officer, Commander 331st Transportation Company (Causeway), Transportation Corps Proponency Officer, and Aide de Camp to the U.S. Army Chief of Transportation.

In 1999, he was assigned to the 836th Transportation Battalion in Yokohama, Japan where he served as the Battalion S-3 and completed his Masters of Science Degree in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Following graduation from the Army Command and General Staff College in 2003, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Mosul, Iraq as the Division Transportation Officer for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. After redeploying the Division to Fort Campbell, he was assigned to the 801st Brigade Support Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (Currahee) as the Support Operations Officer. He deployed to East Baghdad, Iraq for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07 as the 801st Brigade Support Battalion Executive Officer, then as Brigade Executive Officer (Forward) where he redeployed the Brigade from Iraq.

In 2007, he was assigned to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a Joint Logistics Planner for Allied Land Component Command in Heidelberg, Germany.

In June 2009, he took command of the 801st Brigade Support Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (Currahee) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In August 2010, he deployed the battalion to Paktika Province, Afghanistan for 12 months in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 10-11. His battalion served as the Distribution Manager and provided all sustainment and medical support to Task Force Currahee and all units operating in Paktika and East Ghazni Provinces.

He was selected for and will attend the Army War College in Carlisle, PA in July 2012.

LTC Preston’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal w/ 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal w/ 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Korea Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ 6 Device, NATO Medal, Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist Badge.

LTC Preston is married to the former Ms. Anne Gray of Rochester, New Hampshire and they have three children, Sarah (age 15), Nathan (age 10), and Matthew (age 7).
